 Remote Assistance

  • What is Remote Assistance?

Remote Assistance enables both Windows and Mac users to receive technical assistance over the Internet. Our certified technicians can log in to your computer remotely to resolve your computer issues – and you can watch the entire process on your monitor while they work. This means you don’t have to unplug and bring your computer into our store or schedule an onsite appointment.

  • Is it Safe and Secure?

Yes. The Computer Guy can remotely log into your computer ONLY with your explicit consent; our software employs the use 256-Bit AES Encryption, state of the art firewalls, and requires a unique session ID and session password - both of which change with each remote assistance session. Moreover, you can end the session and regain control of your computer at any time. (Ctrl+F12 for PC users or Ctrl+ESC for Mac Users)

  • Requirements and Limitations

Remote Assistance requires a broadband Internet connection. Examples of local Broadband Internet Service Providers (ISP) include; CableOne, Qwest, Wild Blue, HughesNet and Clearwire. Dial-up Internet service is not recommended for Remote Assistance.

Remote Assistance is primarily used to assist our customers with operating system & software related issues. Remote Assistance is not intended to diagnose hardware issues. For hardware related issues, you should bring your computer into our store or schedule an appointment for onsite services.
